Cosmetic Acupuncture

What Is Cosmetic Acupuncture?

cosmeticacupuncture.jpgCosmetic acupuncture is also know as facial rejuvenation acupuncture.  Although it is a relatively new treatment in western world it has been used in China for years in order to improve the signs of ageing.  Ultra fine needles are inserted into specific points in the face in order to improve the elasticity and youthfulness of the skin.  Micro needles are used to improve the apperance of fine lines and wrinkles.  This treatment also works on lifting the face, particularly where the face begins to sag around the 'jowls' and the cheek area.

Every treatment is unique and tailored to the individual.  Padma will chose the best points and needling techniques in order to achieve the desired results.  She will also use needles in the body during the treatment to help aid relaxation and also a sense of wellbeing.

How Many Treatments Do I Need And What Results Can I Expect?

Cosmetic acupuncture is a safe alternative to more invasive procedures such as fillers or surgery.  Unlike BOTOX®, which carries a large number of possible side effects, Cosmetic Acupuncture is  totally natural and holistic anti-ageing.

It is recommended that you intially have 6 treatments over 6 consecutive weeks.  After this the frequency of your treatments can be reduced to once a month.  You will see results after 2 treatments although most people do report that their skin is softer, smoother and glowing after one treatment.  Factors which can affect the results of treatment are sun damage, smoking and drug intake.

Studies published in the International Journal of Clinical Acupuncture in 1996 showed that of 300 people who received Facial Acupuncture, 90% demonstrated marked results after only their first course of treatment of 2 sessions per week over a 5 week period (Zhang & Zhu 1996).
